The Map Toolbar section is used to define the tools that will be available in the CartoVista Viewer. The list shows the order they will appear in the CartoVista Viewer toolbar.
Click on the "Viewer Configuration" option in the top bar.
The Map Toolbar tab is divided into four sections:
- Map Toolbar,
- Pan Tool.
Map Toolbar
The Map Toolbar section is used to define the tools that will be available in the CartoVista Viewer. The list shows the order they will appear in the CartoVista Viewer toolbar.
Map Toolbar Options

Adds the selected tool. | |

Moves a tool down one row. | |

Tools Available:

Initial Extents | Returns to the initial view of the map. | |
Zoom In | Displays a closer view of the map. The map scale is multiplied by 2. You can also click and drag to draw a rectangle on the map to define the area you want to zoom to | |
Zoom Out | Displays a wider view of the map. The map scale is divided by 2. | |
Pan | Recenters the map. | |
Previous View | Returns to the previous view of the map. | |
Next View | Returns to the next view of the map. | |
Ruler | Calculates the distance between 2 locations and the cumulative distance along a path drawn on the map. | |
Area Calculator | Calculates the perimeter and the total area of a polygon drawn on the map. | |
Selection | Opens the selection menu to select the layer you want to query from, using one of the selection tools (simple, circular, rectangular or polygonal). | |
Unselect All | Unselects all map features. | |
Info | Displays the information for all the features intersecting with a specific location on the map in the Information panel. | |
Info with Pan | Recenters the map and displays information for all the features intersecting a specific location on the map. | |
Hyperlink |
Opens a hyperlink associated with a map feature. | |
Google Street View | Opens a Google Street View for a specific location on the map. Not all locations will have a Google Street View. For better results, zoom until the road network is visible to click a more precise location. | |
Geolocation |
Recenters the map to your current location. | |
Isochrone / Isodistance |
Creates areas representing the locations that can be reached in a specific time (isochrone) or distance (isodistance) from a point on the map. A valid HERE license must be paid to use this option. | |
Spacer | Inserts a vertical bar between tools to create customized tool groups. | |
Router | To create an itinerary. A valid HERE license must be paid to use this option. | |
Grid Profile Analysis | Opens the Grid Profile Analysis panel and tools. |
Toolbar Options
Selected Tool: Defines which tool will be selected by default and ready to use in the CartoVista Viewer published map. In the example below, the Pan tool is selected by default.
Selection Tools
Selection Stroke:
Enables a selection stroke effect when a map feature is selected.
- Colour: Opens the Color Picker dialogue to define a colour for the selection stroke.
- Size: Sets the selection stroke width in pixels.
Selection Fill:
Enable a selection fill effect when a map feature is selected.
- Colour: Opens the Color Picker dialogue to define a colour for the selection fill.
- Opacity: Sets the selection fill opacity from transparent (0%) to fully opaque (100%).
Hide Non-Visible Layers from Selection List:
Prevents layers that are not visible in the map from appearing in the list of layers you can use with the selection tool
Cumulative Mode:
Check this option to allow users to add new items to their selection without using the SHIFT key.
Selection Tools:
Check all the selection methods that you wish to be available in the CartoVista Viewer toolbar.

Default Selection Tool:
Defines which selection tool will be selected by default and ready to use in the selection menu.
Spatial Intersection:
Selects point, polyline or polygon features from a layer by using the boundaries of features from another polygon layer. To learn more on how the Spatial Intersection works, click here.
Pan Tool
Use Inertia Panning: When this option is checked, visual effects are added when panning the map. When a pan is completed, the map will continue to pan at the speed when the pan completed and will then decelerate smoothly to a complete stop.
Area Tool Measurement Unit
Use this tool if you have already selected the Area Calculation Tool. You can decide the measurement unit for the map.
