With this tool, you can define your map zoom levels, your map extends. You can also create some zoom restrictions
Instructions
This is the Map View Settings button.
The Map View Settings dialogue has four tabs:
- Current View: Current map view,
- Initial View: Initial map view when the published map is first opened,
- Maximum Extents: Largest map view possible,
- Zoom Restrictions: Range of scales between which the map is visible.
Use Lat/Long Coordinate System Values
The coordinates values displayed in the Map View Settings dialogue are in the coordinate system of the Map Window. You can use Lat/Long coordinates if you enable the Use Lat/Long Coordinate System Values check box at the bottom of the dialogue. Disable this setting to return to the coordinate system units of the map.
Current View
This tab is used to set the current map view in the CartoVista Publisher.
- Current View
There are three methods to set the Current View of the map:
- Map Scale
Scale: Sets the map scale, which is the ratio between the distance on the map and the corresponding distance on the ground.
Center: Sets the center of the map by entering the X and Y coordinates.
- Extents
Sets the bounds of the map by entering the coordinates of the bottom left and top right corners.
- Map Width
Map Width: Sets the map's width to a specific distance in ground units, independently of the map window width in pixels. The map will adjust its scale to accommodate the required distance.
Center: Sets the center of the map by entering the X and Y coordinates
- Zoom to Current View
Applies the new settings to the map immediately.
Initial View
This tab is used to set the initial map view when the published map is first opened.
- Initial View: There are four methods to set the Initial View of the map:
- Current Scale: Uses the current scale of the map.
- Current Extents: Uses the current extents of the map.
- Custom Scale:
Scale: Sets the map scale, which is the ratio between the distance on the map and the corresponding distance on the ground.
Center: Sets the center of the map by entering the X and Y coordinates
- Custom Extent:
Sets the bounds of the map by entering the coordinates of the bottom left and top right corners.
- Map Layer: You can define your initial view according to one of the layers of your map.
- Set from Current View: Uses the map view settings of the Current View.
- Zoom to Initial View: Applies the new settings to the map immediately.
Maximum Extents
This tab is used to set the largest map view possible. In other words, the Maximum Extents determine how far a user can pan the map.
- Maximum Extents:
There are three methods to set the Maximum Extents of the map:
- Current Extents x2
The distance between the bottom left and top right corners X and Y coordinates of the Current View is doubled. This allows users to pan the map from the Initial View of the map.
- Current Extents
Uses the same extents as for the Current View.
- Custom Extents
Sets the bounds of the map by entering the coordinates of the bottom left and top right corners.
- Set from Current View
Uses the map view settings of the Current View.
- Zoom to Maximum Extents
Applies the new setting to the map immediately
Zoom Restrictions
This tab is used to set the range of scales between which the map is visible. These restrictions will prevent the user from zooming the map closer in or farther out than the values you have set.
Check the Zoom Restrictions check box to apply the following rules:
- Minimum: Sets the scale to which the user can zoom in.
- Maximum: Sets the scale to which the user can zoom out.
- Infinity: Check this check box to have no maximum scale.
